Just wanted to update you on some things.
We’ll be accepting submissions only until March 1st. This means you have less than a month to get us your stories! We’ve got about 60 or 70 so far, I think, so there’s plenty of room. I read about five stories so far and four weren’t so good but one was okay. I think Andrew might like it, actually. It’s kinda up his alley.
Andrew’s rejected at least as many as I have (I can tell because I’ve looked in the “rejections” folder – by the way, we’re only outright rejecting stories that are really terrible), but I don’t know how many good ones he’s actually read. And I haven’t really spoken to him in a couple weeks, so …
Oh, how was AWP? Ryan Call was nice enough to offer his services: he printed out some Avery bookmarks and stuck them in the journal, Phoebe, so that AWP people might notice our little anthology. He’s the fiction editor over there at Phoebe, and if I knew how to create a link to their website, I would do so right now.
Alas.
Thanks to Doug, the bookmarks looked great! And he had less than a day to design them and get them off to Ryan, too. Thanks, Doug. And thanks, Ryan.
Oh, I do have another update: we’re doing photographs for Avery 3, and we’ve come up with some pretty cool ideas. Doug’s working on some stuff. And we’ve got to get Avery 3 out by May, so this has gotta go really smoothly …
I have faith!

Why the May deadline?
For a couple reasons, I guess.
One, we want to push ourselves to publish at least two a year, so it's important for us to have these kinds of deadlines.
Two, Adam, Andrew, and I will probably be moving to different cities this summer, so we want to be sure to get Avery out before that. Doing so will make our lives a tad easier.
awp went well
sorry, ive been meaning to email you - we stuffed bookmarks into our issue and we also stuffed the remainders into the issues we mailed out in the past two weeks to subscribers/exchanges
think of it as sort of an exchange ad - hopefully that will get people to look you up
i look forward to the next issue
What are the submissions looking like?
Slow the quotes!
